Rogue Farm Corps

Rogue Farm Corps trains the next generation of farmers and ranchers through hands-on educational programs. We work to support our local agricultural economy and serve as a model for other communities.

RFC’s programs combine hands-on training, classroom learning and farm-based experience on a diverse network of commercial family farms in Oregon. RFC offers real world opportunities for both the beginner and the aspiring farmer seeking in-depth training to launch their own farm business. Position Description – Bend

The Central Oregon Chapter Coordinator will manage RFC’s FarmsNext internship program in Central Oregon. The coordinator will work with RFC’s staff to further develop and sustain the new Central Oregon Chapter. The coordinator will facilitate recruitment, promotion, outreach, student placement, scheduling, evaluation, and feedback loops for all students and host farmers in the Central Oregon Chapter of RFC. The coordinator will attend regularly scheduled conference calls and meetings with RFC staff.

Responsibilities and weekly schedule will vary throughout the year depending upon the program needs. The coordinator position requires the use of your own private computer, cellphone, and vehicle with mileage compensation.

Desired Qualifications – Bend

  1. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  2. Background and interest in community food systems and sustainable agriculture and familiarity working with farmers
  3. Interest in working with beginning and established farmers
  4. Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects at once
  5. Ability to be self directed and accomplish tasks in a timely fashion
  6. Familiarity with basic computer systems (Microsoft Office, Dropbox, WordPress, Social Media)
  7. Ability to collaborate with statewide staff working from remote locations
  8. Familiarity with Central Oregon area farm desirable, though not required

The coordinator will facilitate recruitment, promotion, outreach, student placement, scheduling, evaluation, and feedback loops for all students and host farmers in the Portland Chapter of RFC. The coordinator will attend regularly scheduled conference calls and meetings with RFC staff.

Compensation: $20,000 annual salary

Hours

Approximately 20 hours/week, with occasional evening and weekends
Anticipated start date: September 15 – October 1, 2014
