Overview

Learn what seasonal data tracking you will need to do in order to determine the costs of growing your crops and the nuts and bolts of getting the in-season record keeping done. Learning these skills will help you make decisions that can improve the overall profit of your farm. You’ll also participate in a crop costing exercise to start to gain experience with putting cost information to use.

This program is designed to help diversified veggie farmers determine their own crop-specific production costs. During this program you will learn to:

  • Determine how much individual crops contribute to the profitability of your business.
  • Identify strategies for increasing an individual crop’s contribution to overall profit.
  • Eventually, once you’ve determined your cost of production for each crop that you grow you’ll be able to identify changes to crop mix that will improve overall profitability

Get Peer Support and Stay on Track: On-farm Cohort Meetings

As part of this program, you will be part of a cohort and will meet monthly for 4 months for on-farm cost study meetings, to share data tracking strategies (participants will be required to attend 3 of 4 cohort monthly workshops).
