Willamette Farm and Food Coalition’s Farm to School Program is currently hiring for our open AmeriCorps Farm to School Educator position (listed below and also attached).

Organization:  Willamette Farm and Food Coalition, Farm to School Program

Organization mission: The Willamette Farm and Food Coalition (WFFC) facilitates and supports the development of a secure and sustainable food system in Lane County, Oregon; one in which our farms and food businesses are ecologically and economically viable and all community members have access to fresh, local foods.


Position: Farm to School Educator

Location: 150 Shelton McMurphey Blvd Suite 206 Eugene, OR 97401

Hours: This is a full time 11 month AmeriCorps position. We ask that the candidate be willing to work 40 hours or more a week in the spring and fall, with a reduced work schedule in the winter and summer.

Reports to: Farm to School Education and Family Outreach Coordinator


Summary of position:  Our Farm to SchoolProgram educates students about where their food comes from and how it is grown and provides families with resources to access healthy locally-grown foods. The AmeriCorps member will lead and co-lead educational activities including classroom lessons, farm field trips, cooking activities, school garden sessions, and tasting tables coordinated with our local purchasing efforts.  They will supervise students during activities, recruiting and supervising volunteers and preparing for and wrapping up after activities. They will also implement family outreach activities which include outreach at family events, field trips, and distribution of information about resources to access healthy, locally grown foods.



Lead and co-lead educational activities with students and families

Supervise students, interns and volunteers during activities

Pack and prepare all supplies for activities (requires lifting of bins weighing 20-30 lbs)

Maintain and organize all of Farm to Schools program supplies and equipment

Complete and submit in a timely manner all OSSC/AmeriCorps required reports and time sheets

Attend OSSC/AmeriCorps sponsored orientation, trainings, and meetings



Assist with implementation and scoring of pre/post tests and family surveys

Assist with coordination of Oregon Farm to School Network activities and communication



Experience working with children

Experience with gardening or farming

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are helpful

Must be willing to submit volunteer background check forms to local school districts

Bilingual in English and Spanish


Benefits for serving in AmeriCorps full-time are: $5,730 education award upon completion for future tuition or payment on qualified student loans (taxed), a living allowance of $12,530 for 11 months (before taxes), loan forbearance on qualified federal student loans, basic healthcare coverage and childcare assistance (if household income qualifies).
